Knotty alder door for closet? Yes, even closet door deserves have character and look beautiful.
One of my great customers fell in love with knotty alder wood doors and I have to admit that I like them a lot too. It gives warm country like feeling when properly finished and used with the right kind of hardware.
Almost all doors in the house were replaced and suddenly this closet door looked a bit out of place and outdated.
After exploring some options we have selected beautiful barn sliding door hardware. That will allow us to surface mount sliding hardware. Not only that hardware looks beautiful but design and craftsmanship is excellent quality. On top of that it is made in USA! This knotty alder door will look beautiful.
All of this combined will dramatically improve otherwise boring corner in this master bedroom.
That being said we need to be careful about installation here. Any small mistake will show up as everything is exposed. Barn sliding door hardware must be installed perfectly level and at exact height to properly work with the door guide. Even with heavy over-sized door it will slide very smoothly and easily.
It’s time to layout everything and take important measurements.
We have used tape on the door to prevent any scratches. This door is beautifully finished and any scratch would be very obvious.
First step is to install knotty alder board to right height. That will serve as mounting surface for the barn sliding door hardware and it will also add another element that will work great with the door.
